Passion Week
DAY TWO
On Day 2 we follow Jesus into the temple where he becomes angered by how the temple is being used. Many were using the temple as an opportunity to make a profit and take advantage of those visiting the temple . The cleansing of the temple was in fulfillment of Malachi 3:1-3 and was Jesus' second messianic act during this Passion Week.
Choose one or more of the Gospels below to read through the account of Jesus at the temple. Highlight verses that stand out to you. What can you learn about Jesus through this story? What can you learn about people? What can you apply to your life based on what you read?

Prayer focus
Jesus clearing the temple is a side of Jesus we don't see very often. Jesus was angry at what the temple was becoming. It was no longer serving as a House of Prayer. In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Paul writes about our bodies being temples of the Holy Spirit. Consider this as you move into a time of prayer:
- Pray about the things that stood out to you as you read through this story. What's God saying to you today?
- The temple was to be a house of prayer and a witness to the nations. Rather, it became a "den of robbers" and prevented people from being able to worship and experience God. Praise God for the victories you experience in prayer and living out your faith. Ask God to help you break free from strongholds that prevent you from being a "house of prayer" and from being a good witness to those around you.
